IT'S A LONG ROAD WITH MANY WINDING TURNS AND LUMPS AND BUMPS AND POT -HOLES AND TRAFFIC LIGHTS AND ROADWORKS AND IF YOU LET THESE THINGS 'GET TO' YOU YOU'LL GIVE UP! PITY, THAT!
"The road to success is always under construction". - Johnny Carson
Hi, hello, welcome, thanks for visiting, enjoy,
Let's think a bit deeper about, the advice, the message, the guidance of the quote above. Most people are simply kidding themselves. They seek a success destination when there actually ain't one. Unless of course you decide that where you are on the success ladder is where you're happy, satisfied, fulfilled, and want to stay there.
Success is 'a result' but not always a result that 'stands '.
The ONLY thing we have control over is, the work we do on ourselves and our life every single, minute, hour, day, week, month, year, decade of our, one and only, life. Accept it, or don't bother to start on, anything.
You're under construction - and always at the mercy of change. Take this to heart right now and save yourself years of frustration.
The way forward is this.
As long as you show up every day and move 'things' one more step forward, you have a very good chance of overcoming limiting circumstances and setbacks - even major ones.
But, it has to be a, daily, habitual, ongoing, thing, a process that is never finished. (THINK long and hard about this sentence. Then DO what most other successful people have always had to DO.
The biggest obstacle you and I will ever face, is the false thought, that success is something you achieve/get to/arrive at. In reality, there is only, 'working towards', with a great number of 'nows' along the way. Being honest about it, you'll never truly get to the end until you get to the 'one and only' end.
So! What do you do with this information?
I remember a stage we all experience when I was all over the &(*R%$%*&*)* place. I knew I could, and should have been, getting much better results than I was. It was like I had just, ran out of steam, was stagnating. I was busy but not productive. It's those thoughts that go round and round when you know what to do, but you can't decide what to do about what you have to do. This always happens at some point in any worthwhile next -step in life that is ongoing and important to us. Even though I had a good understanding of what I was doing, I still felt stuck. Thinking things through I realised that the problem was really quite obvious. I had THINK better and DO more effective work.
Here's a workable solution. Not easy, but do-able.
The solution is a quote from the late, great, marvellous mentor, Jim Rohn: "Don't wish it were easier, wish you were better." (Wishin' don't work in my world so I'm not quite sure about the word wish so here's my version).
"Don't think, "It should be easier, think, "I'll think and do better". Me.
Ditch the thought that success is reserved for other people. You, wrongly, think, "These people have something I don't." That's horse s....t. Really it is!They don't all have success offered to them, it's not kept in storage, hidden in a gift- wrapped box, or daddy handing over the results of his hard graft. All improvers do what is needed to be done, slowly but surely, day by day, week by week, month by month. Even year by year, which is more truthful.
Cutting through the crap though. I am convinced that these people actually do 'have' something, that you possibly don't yet have. They, THINK and DO, my version of O.C.D. Optimism. Conviction. Determination. They are optimistic, they are convinced that they can achieve their objective and they are determined to make it happen. Go look up the lives of five successful people. You will find that 95% of them climbed their ladder of success one rung at a time using large doses of, O.C.D.
My, secret, super -efficient, hugely powerful, formula for creating the best life you are capable of is, THINK. DO. HAVE.
"It's better to be going five miles an hour in the right direction than one hundred miles an hour in the wrong direction." (Chinese proverb, I think.)Makes complete sense to me. Just remembered it and thought how true and helpful it is. What do you think?
Success can be a destination.
If you are totally, happy, satisfied and content with your life. You've arrived. If you want more then that 'more' becomes a new success step. Nothin' wrong with that. That's personal evolution. The most frustrating, self destructive and unattainable success objective is when you want to be another, Bill Gates, Warren Buffett or Kim Kardashian etc, etc. You never will be.
You can only THINK about and DO what you know about.
You now know the reality of being ' a success' in life. Because 'you know' you can, THINK, DO and HAVE the effects of success, in terms of what success means to you.
Hope this helps,
Thought Master and Mentor
P.S. I think I'm a success. Why? Because, I started my working life as a Postman. I finished my working life as a College Lecturer. I haven't arrived yet because I know that I can succeed in the future as a mentor to those who read this blog. I THINK that I can. I'll DO all I can. Eventually I'll HAVE the satisfaction of helping to, "Change people and their lives, one thought at a time." It ain't rocket science.
