A GROWTH MINDSET vs A FIXED MINDSET.
"We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them". Albert Einstein
Hello and welcome,
MINDSET or MIND-SET (It can be spelled either way) is: "A fixed mental attitude or disposition that predetermines a person's responses to and interpretations of situations. A fixed, habitual set of thoughts about yourself and your most basic qualities".
In real terms, what you habitually THINK and DO and what you HAVE in your life as a result.
Good old science
Recent scientific research has proved that people have either 1) A fixed mindset or 2) A growth mindset.
People with a Growth Mindset think and believe that their abilities can be changed through effort, dedication and practice. They have a keen desire to keep learning, keep persevering and keep growing. These traits are essential for all levels of accomplishment. They are found in every great person who has ever lived. Such people evolve and grow themselves and their life. They embrace and pursue positive change! They accept that they can bring about changes in themselves.
Those people that the world considers to be great, Michaelangelo, Mozart, Charles Darwin, Michael Jackson, etc all achieved greatness by adding, passion, practice and learning to develop their basic talents. They all had a growth mindset.
Those people with a Fixed Mindset habitually think and believe that their abilities and talents are, inherited and unchangeable. This is not so!
If your mindset (habitual thinking) isn’t doing you any good, change it!
Either type of mindset is learned. You ain’t born with it!. If you think that you have learned to be a fixed mindset type then you can un-learn it and replace it with a growth mindset. They are both based on our thoughts and our thoughts can be controlled and changed.
If you are encouraged by others but you habitually think "I can’t get any better." (fixed mindset) you will never try .
If you are encouraged to keep learning and trying and you believe that you can improve (growth mindset) you will continue to acquire knowledge, information and skills that you can use to continue to grow yourself. By doing so you do get better, you grow, you, evolve, you improve.
“Whether you think you can or you think you can’t you’re right”. Henry Ford¬
Is 'new' for you?
Suppose today somebody asked you to do some juggling but you have never learned to do so. If you are a fixed mindset person you will avoid the challenge because you think that you will never be able to learn to juggle. End of growth. Nothing new learned. You’re staying the same! Game over!
If you have a growth mindset you will take on the challenge spend the necessary time, effort and practice learning to juggle. You will now have grown, evolved and improved your level of capability in, juggling. You may never end up juggling on stage or in a circus but at least you grew, improved and evolved.
First you had to THINK, “I’ll give it a go”. Then you had to DO something. Practice, persevere and make effort until you could juggle, even at a low level. If you really get ‘bitten by the bug’ you could continue to learn and become a world class juggler. That is how a growth mindset works! Michael Jordan did not start out as the worlds’ best basketball player. In his own words:
“Maybe I led you to believe that basketball was a God given gift and not something I worked for.” Michael Jordan.
“I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed”. Michael Jordan.
Sorry I've changed my mind!!!!
Can a mindset be changed? Of course it can, because it is based on your habitual thought processes. What we allow to happen in our mind is in our control. It is not difficult to make the decision to think different, new, better, thoughts about things and use them as our habitual mind set. New thoughts are the sources of new actions and new results in life.
The only alcohol I used to drink was beer! For many years now I have preferred red wine! Why? Because my mindset, my habitual thinking about beer, changed once I knew that it does you no good at all. Then I found out that wine, especially red wine, has some beneficial health effects.
Once I knew the difference between beer and wine my mindset changed and I refused to drink beer on a regular basis. But I drink a bottle of red wine every couple of weeks. So I changed my mindset about my drinking habits.I have done the same with many other areas of my life over the last five years.
If you know that habitually thinking and doing something is, wrong, not right, unhelpful or harmful to you etc, why continue to think it and do it? You don't have to.
If you don't look for, and use, new knowledge and understanding about something, you will never be able to 'use' it in our life.
You now know that your mindset is not set. If it isn’t allowing you to evolve, go change it and become more! OK????
We all know the phrase, ‘I have my mind set on X, or Y, or Z.………’ If you are going to have your mind 'set on' something, make it something better!
All the you will ever need to HAVE a life of accomplishment, or failure, comes from your mind, in the form of your thoughts. These lead to, Self-Empowerment, if they are the right 'kind' of thoughts and you act on them. This is what excites me every day.
Beneficially your, always,

P.S. I can't make the info' I write in my Posts any less expensive, 'cause it's free. This doesn't mean that it's of no value. It simply means that instead of turning the information into a book, or books, and charging stupid money for it, you get it for free. So I should read or even copy and paste as many Posts as you can before I do decide to create those books.
