Hello and welcome,
Read all of this post, because the few minutes you spend will make you a stronger, more capable, better informed person and because it will work wonders for your life!
Does the quote above ‘make sense ‘to you? It does to me! I’m not a practicing Buddhist but my search for knowledge about how to become a better person, succeed in life and achieve more has led me to investigate, amongst many other things, the main truths of this five thousand year old guide to living a life of personal growth, evolution and harmony!
There is a saying, “A little knowledge is dangerous”. I like to add “but not gaining any knowledge is of no use at all and is your own fault”!
The following is information I have gained from my studies in the area of Buddhism.
1. Nothing is lost or wasted in the universe. Energy turns into matter, matter turns into energy. A dead leaf is assimilated into and becomes part of soil. A seed grows in the soil and becomes a new plant.
2. Everything changes. Everything is continually changing. Life is like a river, ever flowing, ever changing. Rivers change direction, grow and have to overcome obstacles in order to continue their journey. If we are to live courageously, creatively and purposely then our thoughts about life must also. change direction, grow and continue improving to the end of our journey on earth.
3. The Law of Cause and Effect. The changes that occur in the world and in the universe are due to the law of Cause and Effect. Every change that takes place has a cause This is the same law that is found in every text book on Science.
With reference to item 1 above, our thoughts are the energy that power our actions and our speech. What we do and what we say. You can’t speak or do anything without first having a thought. Ever tried getting out of your chair without first thinking? Try speaking without having a thought. Really, really, take the time to notice next time you say or want to say or do something. The first thing you must do is think! No thoughts , no actions, no words!!!!!If you think and speak and do good things then the effects in your life will be good.
As for item 2, exercise, healthy eating and sensible money management will result in positive changes in our life. For item 3 your thoughts and your actions determine the kind of things you CAUSE to be in your life, as EFFECTS. If you think and do ‘bad’ things then you create bad effects in your life. Effects, such as being overweight through eating ‘bad’ food. Being in prison for breaking the law. Being in an unhappy marriage because you are a control freak.
This important knowledge gives each of us the power to create the life we want!
I call this, SELF-EMPOWERMENT.

SELF –EMPOWERMENT comes from THINKING and DOING in such a way that we each HAVE certain life experiences that we, CREATE. They can be either good or bad. This is our POWER and our RESPONSIBILITY. No one else is accountable for making your life better, or worse, just you, through what you THINK and DO!
Things in life will never always be the way we would like them to be. We can only learn to handle them. If you expect never to be unhappy and always be successful in life you will be disappointed, because that is not how life ‘works’. We will all die that can’t be avoided. What is important though is, how you live before you die!
