ABOUT ME! ME! ME! TO HELP YOU! YOU! YOU!
“The proliferation of ‘things’ of all kinds and 'lives' of all kinds presents one unbroken chain of evidence to support the fact that man is the maker of his own destiny; and his thoughts and acts are the tools with which he does the making”. Albert Einstein.
What you think and what you do, determine what becomes of you! Me. (That's me on the right).
Hello and welcome,
Read all of this post. The time you spend will make you a, stronger, more capable, better informed person and will work wonders for your life!
Why is this post all about me? Because building a relationship over the internet requires trust and I want YOU to get to know, understand and trust ME.
So here we go!
1. I lived in an ordinary family, in an ordinary house, in extraordinary Liverpool, England.
2. I left school, aged fifteen, with no qualifications. Oops. Should have tried harder. (Not totally sure though)
3. My working life began as a Delivery Boy for a local store. (The free bike was the draw)!
4. Next I became a Telegram Delivery Boy for the GPO. (They offered a better bike)!
5. I saw ‘The Beatles’ in ‘The Cavern’ on the first night that Ringo Starr played drums for them. (Autographs are free)!
6. With the GPO I reached the dizzy heights of Postman, aged eighteen.
7. At age nineteen I joined the Royal Air Force to train as an Electrician .
8. While in the RAF I studied part-time for the qualifications needed to get into university.
9. Got in, worked hard, spent four years broke.
10. I gained an Honours Degree in Education, aged 36 and 3/4. (A bit older than Adrian Mole).
11. From 1982 to 2002 I worked as a Lecturer in a Sixth Form College in North Devon, England.
12. In October 2002 I retired and came to live in wonderful Spain.
Not bad for a kid who left school as a ‘failure’.
(I'm not bragging, just telling you the truth, the facts, the way things happened!)
Know and understand this: Everything I achieved in my life from the age of fifteen began with a thought which I acted on. Because of what I chose to THINK and DO my life steadily improved.
Here's the basics of how it all happened.
Getting the Delivery Boy and Royal Mail jobs were based on thoughts and taking action. The first thought of any real importance to my achieving more in life was when age eighteen I thought, "I could be more than a Postman". So I did something! I looked around for a better career. I thought, "I’ll join the Royal Air Force. I did that and trained as an Electrical Engineer.
While in the RAF I thought another important thought. Something along the lines of, "I’d like to get some different qualifications". So I started evening classes and part-time study. Eventually I passed all the qualifications required to enter university and gain a Degree in Education.
During my time at university I thought, " What would I like to do in teaching"? I knew the answer. So, after university, I applied for teaching posts that allowed me to teach young people who, like myself, had not done as well as they should have in their education up to age sixteen.
I gained a post in a Sixth Form College to pioneer courses that allowed so called, ‘school failures’, to have another chance at making something of themselves and their life.
I worked at this college for 20 years, enjoyed every day and helped hundreds of student to ‘become better’, grow, and develop.
Just ‘having a thought’ is never enough, you have to act on your thoughts or they will never become reality.
The formula for achievement in any area of life, I believe, and know, is this, THINK -DO - HAVE. Along the road of my 'journey' to a better, more fulfilling and satisfying life every new step forward began with a thought that was acted on. I THOUGHT, I DID and eventually I HAD the things I wanted in my life.
I have always been an encourager. I love to cheer people up. If I see someone who looks a bit 'down' I say hello and compliment them on something about themselves. It gives me a real buzz to see their face light up, with a smile. It makes me know that I have contributed something to their life which is of value.
Did you know ? Iceland consumes more Coca Cola than any other country in the world!.
When I retired to Spain I really missed the opportunity to help and enable other people. Then one day I thought, "What if I start a blog that will help other people to learn about, and use, what I know about making progress in life"?
That was four years ago. I took action, (I think of it as ACT-I-ON), on the thought and you and me now HAVE this wonderful blog. (Well I think so, but then I would wouldn't I)?. It’s a great feeling knowing that people can get real help, advice and encouragement on how to really take control of their life through my writing.
"Changing your life one thought at a time is the only do-able way".
Well that’s what I wanted you to know about me. I hope that the information will encourage you to find out more from www.thoughtistry.com and apply, THINK-DO-HAVE to your future.
Beneficially yours, always,
